Frequently Asked Questions

  • We all know the term lifespan. This is a measure of how long you are alive.

    IOW: your age at death.

As lifespan increases, more attention has been paid to our quality of life throughout our lifespan.  It is a common concern and fear that our end of life experience includes poor function, dependence on healthcare workers and ‘life support’.

Many people agree that a poor quality of life in our last years is a major concern.  Dr. P. Attia used the term marginal decade to refer to our final decade of life.

The term healthspan has become popular and refers to that period of life where our health is generally good.

Where lifespan measures our time on earth, healthspan measures the time that we are happy to be here.

  • Vitality can be summarized to mean being strong and capable.  To be strong, with high energy, or to thrive.

I don’t mean health.  Our current use of this word refers to living in the absence of disease.

The World Health Organization has updated this definition to essentially describe vitality, but unfortunately, it will likely take decades for governmental policy to catch up to the enormity of this important change in definition.

I don’t have time to wait, so I’m taking my health and vitality into my own hands.   This is why I created The Vitality Collaborative.  A place where each professional views your goals through the lens of Vitality, NOT the absence of disease.

  • Your first visit concentrates on defining where you are now, where you would like to be (goals) and which resources you prefer to get there.

This is entirely dictated by you. The assessor will walk you through the process and make you aware of appropriate resources including those you use outside the office.
